Sowing Seeds offers truly a bar of its own kind. One can not typically find a bar of this sort which has organic raw fruits, raw nuts, organic raw seeds, and cooked grains. Truly I can not think of one other bar of this sort. It might exist though. The honey is still raw, the coconut oil is still raw, the celtic sea salt adds trace minerals, along with the bee pollen. There is a diversity of fats which the body needs. In our opinion, this bar meets many of the essential needs of the body (vitamins, minerals, and nutrients). The following will be a sort of compilation of various health facts on some of the ingredients. Once again, we must be amazed at the health giving properties found in our food supply. Truly, as God said it, “I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” (Genesis 1:29)
OATS
Oats have a higher level of soluble fiber than all other grains. Benefits of oats in the diet is the value that they have in lowering cholesterol and the fact that they are soothing to the digestive process. Oats contain seven B vitamins, vitamin E, and nine minerals, including iron and calcium. The quality and quantity of the protein in oats is far superior to that of wheat and most other grains. One ounce of oats has twice the protein of wheat or corn flakes. Antioxidant compounds unique to oats, called avenanthramides, help prevent free radicals from damaging LDL cholesterol, thus reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, suggests a study conducted at Tufts University and published in The Journal of Nutrition. Oats and other whole grains are a rich source of magnesium, a mineral that acts as a co-factor for more than 300 enzymes, including enzymes involved in the body’s use of glucose and insulin secretion. Also studies have shown oats being effective in prevention of childhood asthma, breast cancer, and type 2 diabetes. RAW HONEY
Raw honey is the only unheated, pure, unpasteurized, and unprocessed honey. Raw honey is the healthiest choice among the various forms of honey as it has the most nutritional value and contains amylase, Amylase is an enzyme concentrated in flower pollen which helps predigest starchy foods like breads. Also found in raw honey are simple carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates give the body the energy to get through the day. Raw honey contains small amounts of a wide array of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. The vitamins found in honey may include niacin, riboflavin and pantothenic acid. Niacin prevents the disease pellagra. Pellagra is when a person’s skin gets thicker. Riboflavin is important for body growth and red blood cell production and helps in releasing energy from carbohydrates. Pantothenic acid is also known as the vitamin B5. It is essential in producing, transporting, and releasing energy from fats.
ORGANIC VIRGIN COLD PRESSED COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil contains lesser calories than other oils, its fat content is easily converted into energy and it does not lead to accumulation of fat in the heart and arteries. Coconut oil helps in boosting energy and endurance, and enhances the performance of athletes. Coconut oil does not require extra enzymes for digestion and absorption and, as such, can be immediately converted by the body into energy. The health benefits of coconut oil include stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength.

Dates help in muscle development. Dates contain nicotinic which is beneficial for curing different kinds of intestinal disorders. Continuous intake of dates helps to maintain a check on the growth of the pathological organisms and thus, helps in the rise of friendly bacteria in the intestines.
ORGANIC FIGS
Organic figs are seasonal fruits that are found in the western parts of Asia. The figs tree is a member of mulberry family. Health benefits of figs can be attributed to the presence of minerals and vitamins in them. Figs contain vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, calcium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, sodium, potassium and chlorine. Figs contain fiber which means they help in healthy bowel function and prevents constipation. This fiber has a few other positive effects on the body. Eating figs as part of a healthy diet helps reduce weight, along with the amount of fiber found in figs. Figs help in lowering cholesterol. Figs contain Pectin, a soluble fiber that mops up globes of cholesterol and carries them out of the body when the fiber travels through the digestive system. The presence of fiber helps to mop up and usher out cancer causing substances. Figs help prevent coronary heart disease. The ingredients in the figs that help prevent heart disease are phenol, Omega-3 and Omega-6. The American Diabetes Association recommends figs for a high fiber treat. Figs can help reduce the amount of insulin needed by diabetic patients who have to take insulin injections. Figs are rich in Potassium. Potassium helps to control blood sugar.
RAW WALNUTS
Walnuts are one of the best plant sources of protein. They are rich in fiber, B vitamins, magnesium, and antioxidants such as Vitamin E. Nuts in general are also high in plant sterols and fat – but mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (omega 3 fatty acids – the good fats) that have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol. Walnuts, in particular, have significantly higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids as compared to other nuts. More than a decade of scientific evidence shows that incorporating walnuts in a healthy diet reduces the risk of heart disease by improving blood vessel elasticity and plaque accumulation. Walnuts have also been shown to aid in the lowering LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and the C-Reactive Protein (CRP). CRP was recently recognized as an independent marker and predictor of heart disease. The best approach is to reap the health benefits of eating walnuts but not add excessive calories to your daily intake. Therefore, instead of just adding walnuts to your current diet, eat them in replacement of foods that are high in saturated fats (such as cheese and meat).
ORGANIC RAW SUNFLOWER SEEDS
Sunflower seeds are a source of phytosterols. Phytosterols are compounds found in plants that have a chemical structure very similar to cholesterol, and when present in the diet in sufficient amounts, are believed to reduce blood levels of cholesterol, enhance the immune response and decrease risk of certain cancers. Sunflower seeds are a good source of magnesium. Numerous studies have demonstrated that magnesium helps reduce the severity of asthma, lower high blood pressure, and prevent migraine headaches, as well as reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Magnesium also is involved in regulating nerve and muscle tone, energy production, and healthy bone structure. Sunflower seeds are also a good source of selenium, a trace mineral that is of fundamental importance to human health. Accumulated evidence from prospective studies, intervention trials and studies on animal models of cancer has suggested a strong inverse correlation between selenium intake and cancer incidence. Selenium has been shown to induce DNA repair and synthesis in damaged cells, to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells, and to induce their apoptosis, the self-destruct sequence the body uses to eliminate worn out or abnormal cells. In addition, selenium is incorporated at the active site of many proteins, including glutathione peroxidase, which is particularly important for cancer protection. Also found in sunflower seeds is vitamin B-5, folate, phosphorous, tryptophan, copper, vitamin E, vitamin B-1, and manganese.
WILD BEE POLLEN
Bee pollen is one of nature’s healthiest and most powerful “super foods.” It’s been used as a dietary supplement for thousands of years. This ingredient had been considered nature’s most perfect food because it can be used for everything. It has been proven that bee pollen aids in weight loss, slowing the aging process, and preventing cancer and other diseases. Bee pollen also can lead to an increase in energy, vitality and stamina. Other benefits of bee pollen include improving the immune system, AND relieving symptoms of allergies and asthma.
CELTIC SEA SALT
One would not normally consider salt to be a healthy addition to a diet. Although our bodies do require a certain amount of sodium, particularly for digestion, we are warned by health officials and nutritionists that too much sodium is bad for us, and instructed to use salt in moderation. However, studies over time have shown that kosher salt or sea salt is preferred over traditional table salt, and touted by health professionals and culinary chefs. Praised by both, Celtic sea salt has the honor of being the most flavorful and healthiest of all the available sea salts. Celtic Sea Salt imparts a pure, fresh taste to your meals, rather than the harsh flavor of table salt. But more importantly, nearly eighty vital nutrients and minerals can be found in the tiny, gray crystals of Celtic sea salt, serving to provide the body with a healthy dose of electrolytes, energy, and other healthy body functions such as immune system strengthening and the absorption of nutritious elements from food. The trace minerals also play an important part in cleansing the body and aiding in healthy digestion. Celtic sea salt has tremendous healing virtues that have the exact opposite effects of refined salt. It helps to balance out and nourish our body with minerals that our body lacks. It is particularly helpful in helping with mucus elimination. Celtic sea salt helps in relieving sinus congestion, kidney stones, and diabetes. Celtic sea salt helps balance out sugar in the blood.
ORGANIC FLAX SEEDS
Organic flax seeds are high in omega-3 fat called alpha-linolenic acid and appear to lower triglyceride levels. Some of the health benefits that are attributed to adding flax seeds to your diet are lowered blood cholesterol levels, lowered high blood pressure, and reduced threat of blood clots. Organic flax seeds can also lead to increases in energy, vitality, and stamina. Flax seeds contain many nutrients that impact favorably on human health. Flax seeds are rich in soluble fiber and contain high quality protein. Vitamins B-1, B-2, C and E, and minerals iron and zinc, plus smaller amounts of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium are found in flax seeds.
